About

“Crowded classrooms and half-day sessions are a tragic waste of our greatest national resource — the minds of our children.”— Walt Disney

A little of my background…

Hi, my name is Sophia. I was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan. After graduating from high school at the International School of Sacred Heart in Japan, I decided to go abroad to Massachusetts, Boston to study art, a subject I had always loved.

It was mind-blowing to be exposed to so many talented individuals at the school. The Art Museums and galleries in Boston were the most eye-opening for me. It really made a huge impression on me. After graduating and earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts, I had an opportunity to experience working as a graphic designer.

After wonderful years working in Boston and New York City, I decided to pursue a career as a Graphic Designer at a printing company in Australia. Several years later, I was hired at a Packaging company in Tokyo, Designing and directing Packaging product for famous brands.

Experienced in working with a small firm and a big corporation in typographic design and packaging design, I have realised that I have so much to offer to all generations.

Through decades of observing how children discover creativity, I developed the Creative Journey Formula™, a structured curriculum system that guides students through the natural stages of creative development. It is the methodology behind every Kids Art Fun program, and the subject of my book, The First 9 Discoveries of a Kid's Fruitful Art.

Creative Journey Formula™

A developmental curriculum system created by Sophia over 20+ years of teaching. Rather than standalone craft projects, each lesson follows a structured sequence that aligns with how children naturally learn through creative expression. Students discover and learn to:

  • Observe the world around them
  • Create with confidence
  • Develop balance and hand pressure control
  • Cross the body's midline
  • Experience tactile textures
  • Build analytical thinking, collaboration, and creativity

Testimonials

“It is a nice programme, my boys absolutely it, relaxed art, relaxed pace and no expectation. My boys usually find art stressful at school, as they are expected to meet certain criteria, but Sophia's class is so relaxing. Highly recommend to boys and girls of all ages. Sophia is very kind and fun and patient and my boys enjoy it immensely.”
